So we’re sold the “noble lie” that democracy is people power, giving power to the people by voting for one party or one MP. But what do those who vote really vote for?
Because essentially the MPs in their local councils and the government are in power to make choices for us, choices that so many people disagree with. So essentially, if power is in choice, isn’t our form of “democracy” really voting for others to take the choices away from us? And then if choice is taken from us, then aren’t those who vote actually voting for others to take power away from them/us?
So go on! Vote! Vote for one person or party who will take away your choice/power, or this other person or party who will take away your choice/power? Enjoy your people “power.”
But then again, it’s easier to blame others for the power we give them.
